I finally splurged on a new machine (the Juki TL-2019Q) and it's the smartest thing I've done in quite awhile. I'll give more details on it in a later post but I'm sure having fun.
I made these blocks back in January of last year and then got distracted but since I had 4 I figured I could make a mini quilt to practice on. So I found this sweet yellow fabric in my stash and used it for sashing and edging.
I bought some Quilt Halos from my friend Cristy Fincher (and some other goodies, including the Supreme Slider, to get me started on the right track) and they are a dream. They hold the fabric securely so I can do my free motion quilting while simply holding the halos on each side (like a steering wheel) and moving the quilt around in the design I want.
I have to confess, I'm pretty impressed with the designs I did. You can see where I started on the left of the corner going upward and by the time I finished the outer edge (on the lower right) I'd really gotten the hang of it and was starting to try a few new things with decent results.
Here it is after I'd finished quilting. I tried to do something different in each block (see the huge swirl on the upper left block) since this is a practice quilt.
I bound the edge while watching Sharon Schamber's (she's Cristy's mom!) Binding the Angel video. This is truly the prettiest and most well done binding I've ever sewn. And the mitered corners were soooo easy (mine are usually very inconsistent and frustrating).

So here is my finished quilt. I'm going to put some little loops in the back and hang it on my wall in my sewing studio. And on to the next!
