I took the Young House Love Pinterest Challenge and I'm in love! Look at my new door decoration! It was really fun to make and I'm spending a good part of my day going in and out the door just so I can look at it again and again.
I took this opportunity to paint the door too since it's been 4 years. I went el cheapo and bought Walmart's Color Place paint at about 10.50 for a quart. I used about 1/2 of it painting 2 coats on the door and I'm really happy with it (I even painted the door hanger with it). It's thinner than my usual favorite, Behr paint, but the thinner consistancy actually made it a lot easier to work with. I treated myself to this cute new mat too (9.00 at Ross). I love the new look!!
Here are the supplies I used and I got everything at Walmart but the ribbon and pumpkin (Michael's for those). I only used two leaves from the clear box and I still have plenty of ribbon and spray paint left for another project too.
Here's a close up. I really love the contrast on the black door and I can remove the decoration from the frame and replace them with Christmas ornaments next month. The pumpkin is attached with wire (I drilled a hole in the back of the pumpkin to run the wire through and it worked out great). I used a dab of hot glue for the leaves and to tack down the sides of the ribbon. I'm hoping that will all pop off when I re-do it.
So here is the Pinterest inspiration photo (from this blog) and my version of this project for my door.
I'm so glad that I actually did something with all that inpiration on my Pinterest boards!! I can't wait to do this again. Oh, and I made this broccoli beef recipe from a Pinterest link and it was a huge hit. I have no pictures to share....it didn't last long enough.
