Okay, so I've been wanting to show off my cute new Pam Kitty Corner but there's always somebody sitting there (and it's never me, darnit). Anyway, I thought Joey looked cute knitting here so I'll show off my corner and more of his mad knitting skillz (more on that pink armoire later). He's making a pair of socks for Sofia and they're going to be pretty nifty. I'm a little surprised that he gets a bit of grief from some guys for being a knitter (or is it the pink chair? ha!). Actually it sort of irks me when I think about it. I love that fact that he spends his relaxing time making things that are received with love (as opposed to spending hours yelling at the TV while watching ESPN and all of us ending up empty handed with cold toes). Off my soap box now....
Anyway, seeing him sitting there knitting made me think of this picture of when we were brand spankin' newlyweds in our first apartment. I'm digging that chest hair (which is now turning silver). I made him that robe when we were dating and I'll never forget it because he insisted on Belgian flannel from the Daisy Kingdom store in Portland (which was like Disneyland to me and is now, sadly, gone). I spent around 34.00 for that fabric and I knew it was true love because I think that's the most I'd ever spent to sew something (he was a Nordstrom kind of guy and I was a thrift shop kind of girl).
Looking back, I'm realizing that we've hand crafted a lot of things for each other over the years. I even made him some men's dress shorts (it's an Arizona thing) and a dress shirt. What a pain (for all their apparent simplicity, men's clothes take the most work). I'll stick to the easy stuff (like the linen iPad cover I made for him) and hopefully he'll keep doodling things like this for me:
On the back it says: For Jona, Feb. 21, 1986 Because I love you! Love Forever, Joey (pretty swoon-worthy, huh?)
It's going to be a good week!! Stop Staring and Start BAKING!! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday so let's get ready!
