I finished my "new" cabinets a couple of months ago but wanted to wait until my office was clean before I took pictures to show everyone. I waited...and waited....okay, so it's not going to get super clean any time soon. I'm in here most of the day doing something (besides cleaning it) so I need to accept the fact that there will usually be a pile of something on this table.
But aren't they great?! We got them at a reclamation store and the guy knocked 10 bucks off because of a broken board on one of them. But that piece is at the top where nobody will see it. We paid a total of 40 bucks for everything (not including the paint and knobs I used later). Such a steal and exactly what this space needed. I needed 3 coats of paint to get a deep red color and the guy at the paint counter warned me the paint would look really pink at first and not to worry. Well, he was right, the paint looked really pink and I worried. But it all worked out perfectly. Throw in the knobs at half off (Hobby Lobby) and I'm happy.
I put down some contact paper inside but haven't even really begun to fill them. I'm working on getting small containers to organize things into (which is my goal with the whole house right now). They still have a lingering bit of a funky smell in them so I put a car refreshener inside and keep the doors closed and that is starting to help. I have a feeling these were in an old commercial kitchen so that would explain the odor. Should I put baking soda in too? Any ideas?
Anyhoo, here's a close up of that little fabric stack I just folded. It was so cute I couldn't leave it out of this post. These would make an awesome scrappy quilt so I'm leaving them here for awhile since they inspire me.
I hope you're having a great week! I intend to get busy today with laundry and bathroom scrubbing (and I'm actually happy about it!). Keep on sewing!
